The National Hairdressing Apprenticeship would like to wish all of its followers a very happy #InternationalWomensDay2022!
As part of events and posts this week to mark #IWD2022, the NHA is delighted to showcase the work and life (so far) of Margaret O’Rourke-Doherty.
Margaret began her career in the hair industry in Peter Mark, moving through various fields until she founded Image Skillnet (2017), Image is a dedicated network for supporting the Irish Beauty and Hair sector with subsided, tailored training.
In 2019, the Skillnet won the Education Business section of the All-Ireland Business Awards.
Also in 2019, Margaret came together with other industry leaders to form HABIC – Hair and Beauty Industry Confederation. This body supports the continued development of the hair and beauty sector in Ireland.
Margaret is also the Chair of the Consortium Steering Group, which has been instrumental in developing the National Hairdressing Apprenticeship. The NHA programme has been designed to deliver the first nationally-recognised hairdressing apprenticeship in Ireland. It is aimed at young women and men, promoting hairdressing as a valid and exciting career opportunity.
