Waterford and Wexford Education and Training Board are delighted to be rolling out the National Hairdressing Apprenticeship in a second location in 2021, Enniscorthy Vocational College of Further Education. Principal, Dr. Iain Wickham says “the central location of the college allows easy access from surrounding counties and makes it readily accessible for those that have an interest in a career in hairdressing. Iain believes that the National Hairdressing Apprenticeship will be a welcome addition to the existing courses provided in the college. The hairdressing department in the college was established in 1998 in conjunction with a vast array of other Post Leaving Certificate courses, providing training for students from all over the South East of Ireland.
The college boasts a fully equipped, 20 – seater state of the art hairdressing salon affording students every opportunity to gain their hairdressing qualification. Mary Ivers, Course Director, and Jacinta Blaney, Hairdressing Teacher have over 20 years hairdressing teaching experience between them.
Mary says that “in the last 23 years the college has developed and strengthened links with salons throughout the South East. We pride ourselves on the high quality of teaching and learning that takes place, ensuring students are well equipped for taking up employment in the hairdressing industry. Students have also been afforded the opportunity of International work experience placements which has further enhanced their skills set”.
